A CDF provides a balanced outline of company-specific capabilities that directly drive business impact
CANBERRA, Australia - AussieJournal -- The capability development framework, or CDF for short, is a tool that organisations use to outline what skills, knowledge and behaviours are expected of their employees to fulfill their roles in relation to business priorities. Building a sustainable organisation requires the support of a tailored capability framework, and a CDF is the key driver for linking business priorities to professional development and performance. The Acorn subject matter experts recently detailed the CDF in their latest article including why it matters and important considerations.
A CDF is vital for organisations looking to improve their workforce and stay competitive. It can improve recruitment, career planning, succession planning, L&D and workforce planning. Without a CDF, organisations risk having an under-skilled and inadequately knowledgeable workforce.

Creating a CDF requires input and buy-in from relevant parties to align it with business strategy and objectives. There are 4 stages of maturity in organisational capability development: foundational, proficient, advanced and strategic levels. These levels indicate the ability to achieve tasks and decide on strategy and practice.
"A CDF provides a balanced outline of company-specific capabilities that directly drive business impact," said Blake Proberts (CEO and Co-Founder). "It's a framework for identifying and addressing capability gaps that arise within your organisation."
To effectively build and implement a capability development framework, organisations should tailor it to the specific needs of the company, balance technical and people skills, assess employee progress, and utilise a learning platform to upskill employees. Regularly assessing employee progress and upskilling employees through a learning platform allows organisations to show progression and measure improvement.
