MELBOURNE, Australia - AussieJournal -- Hillsong Church has been in the media for the wrong reasons for a few years.From the scandals relating to the disgraced  former New York pastor, Carl Lentz to issues of leadership that saw the ouster of its founder, Brian Houston.This past week Hillsong came in the Australian media again after some of their ''alleged'' misdeeds were read in Parliament. This time they were financial.

Award Winning author and author of Head to Head With Jezebel says the current leadership issues have been entrenched. Also a "celebrity culture'', has been hugely exposed. Wisdom Mupudzi, also says its a crucial hour for the church at large to learn from whatever pitfalls the church fell into. Wisdom explains further, "'the Church today ought to come back to the place of Reverence. Reverencial Fear of God is paramount for the life of a believer''.

Wisdom, says many churches are driven by ''church systems'' but at the end of the day, church systems, and marketing cant make up for a faulty foundation. Wisdom goes on to say, the challenges faced by Hillsong Church are not isolated to itself. However, because its a world famous church it got exposed. However, essentially its time for the broader church at large to go back to the basics, of reverence, repentance and being in Alignment with God's intends and purposes!
