SYDNEY - AussieJournal -- Australia's current welterweight champion Kate McLaren is set to make her much anticipated return to the ring this month when she battles Thai Anchalee Mankong. Trained by four-time world champion Jeff Fenech, the New South Wales and Australasian ANBF titleholder will travel to Thailand to fight as part of the Jon Jon Jet vs Woraweth Nawanetiwong card at The Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
"I'm thrilled to be returning to the ring for the first time in five months," says the British-born fighter who now resides in Sydney and fights as an Australian. "I've had time to concentrate on my health and fitness since my last fight, and I feel in great shape to go up against a quality fighter like Anchalee. I'm positive I can come back to Australia with another win under my belt."
McLaren, who was part of Fox Sports commentary team for No Limit's first female card, fought Kaitlyn Lodge back in March at Windsor Leagues Club to become Australia's number-one ranked welterweight fighter, and the New South Wales and Australasian ANBF champion. Her goal is to settle for nothing less than world champion, but first has her sights set on a showdown with Enja Ryan before the end of the year.

Following her fight in Bangkok, McLaren will be traveling to Los Angeles to go into camp at Knockouts Boxing before returning to Australia to continue her training and work in the community with her not-for-profit charity, the It's Her Foundation. She founded It's Her in 2022 to give greater support to young women and at-risk youth in the community through health, fitness, and mindfulness.
"I see teenage girls struggling with their self-worth and not knowing where to turn for help, and I relate to them so much because I used to be exactly like them," says McLaren. "I want to show them that you really can do things beyond your wildest dreams and be whoever you want to be no matter where you come from. That is something I am incredibly passionate about."
Tickets are now on sale from The Box Thailand. For those wanting to watch Kate McLaren's bout against Anchalee Mankong from Australia, the night will be streamed live through The Box Thailand's Instagram: - https://www.instagram.com/theboxthailand
