SYDNEY - AussieJournal -- The rugby league podcast for people who aren't fans of rugby league, Fire Up!, has this week played host to Cold Chisel songwriter and keyboardist, Don Walker.
In this episode, which is a must for fans of both Australian music and rugby league, Kris Gale and Stephen Ferris discussed everything making headlines this week in rugby league with Walker and also reflected on his love for the Brisbane Broncos, Cold Chisel going down in history as one of the greatest grand final acts ever, and the band's plan for their 50th anniversary.
The show that has been dubbed the Who Weekly of rugby league and has hosted guests such as Anthony Albanese, James Tedesco, and Ben Mendelsohn, welcomed Walker in their recording studio on Wednesday to celebrate the release of his fourth solo album, Lightening in a Clear Blue Sky. The Queensland-born Australian music legend will next week embark on a tour of his home state, New South Wales, and Victoria to play songs from his new album and past hits but admits that he's hoping none of his dates clash with State of Origin.

During his hour chat with Tigers fanatic Gale and Dragons tragic Ferris, Walker recalled how rugby league has always played a major part of his life, and how thrilled he was when a Queensland team finally joined the competition in 1988 and he immediately pledged his allegiance to the Broncos. He shared his thoughts on why he believes the team has had such a positive start to the season and their chances come finals time.
Both Gale and Ferris agreed that the task of being part of the NRL grand final's pre-game entertainment has been somewhat cursed for years, with more disasters than successes. They spoke with Walker about how, when Cold Chisel was announced as the 2015 entertainment, there must have been a great deal of pressure. He agreed that they felt there was a sense of urgency, but it was also something that the whole band enjoyed doing.
However, when asked what the plans were for Cold Chisel's 50th anniversary and whether there was a tour on the horizon, Walker replied that the band would "probably go out to dinner."

The episode also featured Walker's song off his new album "Tommy Hanlon's Motor Home," as well as his thoughts on Latrell Mitchell, Kevin Walters, and Johnathan Thurston.
