Boutique Investment Banking Firm LCC Asia Pacific releases specialist report on Electricity and Communications demand & development in the underground mining sector
SYDNEY - AussieJournal -- Boutique investment bank LCC Asia Pacific® has released a new executive briefing on the electrical and communications services sector serving underground mining across Australia and New Zealand — a specialist niche the firm estimates at AUD 1.5–2.5 billion per annum, growing at a high single-digit CAGR through 2030.
The briefing, Electrical & Communications Services in Underground Mining: Australasia Sector Overview, Technology Themes & Landscape Outlook, examines how three structural forces — fleet electrification, autonomous operation and a step-change in vehicle interaction safety regulation — are transforming electrical and communications infrastructure from a supporting trade into the enabling backbone of the modern underground mine.
"No battery-electric loader runs, no autonomous truck moves, and no collision-intervention system fires without high-integrity power and a deterministic, low-latency network behind it," said Nicholas Assef, Founder & Managing Director of LCC Asia Pacific. "The pace of change in this niche over the past 36 months has been faster than almost anywhere else in the mining services value chain — and with mining houses chasing richer ore bodies at depth, we expect that to accelerate through 2030."

Key findings include:
More than 60% of sector revenue is estimated to be recurring in character, underpinned by statutory inspection regimes and life-of-mine maintenance obligations.
Private LTE/5G, battery-electric fleet charging infrastructure and EMESRT Level 9 collision-intervention systems are the fastest-growing demand layers.
The supply side forms an "hourglass": global OEMs have consolidated the technology apex, while the Australasian contracting base remains fragmented and largely founder-held — creating a live consolidation opportunity for corporates and financial sponsors alike, with indicative valuations ranging from 4–6x EV/EBITDA for regional contractors to 8–12x and above for technology platforms.
The executive summary is available for general distribution at lccib.com. The full institutional briefing is available on request.
