New LCC Asia Pacific commercial research review maps where value will be created in biofuels to 2031
SYDNEY - AussieJournal -- Boutique investment banking & strategic consulting firm LCC Asia Pacific® today released its Biofuels Market Review: Market development, applications and commercial outlook to 2031, an open briefing for founders, directors and investors on where value will be created in the sector over the next five years.
The review finds that biofuels are becoming a more differentiated industrial market. Ethanol and biodiesel remain the volume foundation, but the strategic emphasis is shifting to fuels for aircraft, ships and heavy equipment that cannot readily electrify – demand underpinned by the EU's 2030 obligations, Australia's A$1.1 billion Cleaner Fuels Program and the fuel-security case for domestic supply.
Supply is the harder problem. IATA expects sustainable aviation fuel production of around 2.4 million tonnes in 2026, just 0.8 per cent of aviation fuel use, and global marine rules remain unsettled. The review concludes that competitive advantage will come from control of constrained feedstock, plants that run reliably at specification, certification that holds in the destination market and customers bound to pay for the result – not from announced capacity.

"Growth in fuel demand and growth in shareholder value are separate questions," said Nicholas Assef, Founder & Managing Director, LCC Asia Pacific. "The next five years will reward the directors and investors who keep them separate, and who can show investors and acquirers an operating asset rather than an announcement."
The review covers road transport, aviation, shipping, industrial and off-road uses, project economics, Australia's position, a five-year outlook and a reading of recent venture and strategic transactions in the sector.
