One of the first things guests of Zarina Country Cabins notice when they arrive is the birdlife. The trees are full of colour and song — kookaburras call out at dawn and dusk, while rosellas, tawny frogmouths, and the distinctive cry of black cockatoos add to the soundscape. As night falls, the gentle call of a Boobook owl can sometimes be heard in the stillness. Down by the creek, native ducks with their ducklings are a familiar sight, paddling lazily along or resting on the banks.

2. Furry Friends

Witta is also home to some of Australia's more elusive wildlife. From time to time, echidnas can be seen wandering through the grounds, while after dark, brushtail and ringtail possums emerge into the trees. Wallabies often linger in the nearby bush but will sometimes venture closer, hopping up to the cabin as if to say hello.

3. Life in the Creek

The freshwater creek at the bottom of the property is a hidden gem, its banks alive with the chorus of green tree frogs after rain. On nearby bushwalks in Maleny, a little luck and quiet patience may reward you with the rare and magical sight of a platypus gliding through the water at dawn or dusk.

4. A Touch of Country

We share a boundary with our family's working farm, so it's not unusual to see cattle grazing nearby. Their slow, gentle presence adds to the relaxed country feel that defines life in the area. A baby calf has taken up residence in our paddock – affectionately named Winston by one of our recent guests.
