BRISBANE, Australia - AussieJournal -- It has wowed thousands of visitors, from Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth to grey nomads and overseas backpackers, now Queensland's leading outback tourism destination, Adels Grove, will start a new era in the hands of the Waanyi people.
Waanyi Advancement Group has acquired the site and will take ownership from today (1 October).
Previous directors, Alan Mathieson, Gary Murray, Michelle Low Mow said they were delighted Adels Grove would continue to operate as a popular visitor destination.
"It's business as usual at Adels Grove, with accommodation and site bookings, cruises, staffing and facilities continuing as normal," Mr Murray said.
"We wish the new owners all the best and we believe they hope to offer more cultural activities and tours to showcase the rich history of the region and its people, giving visitors an opportunity to connect with the land and its ancient stories.
The 82 hectare Adels Grove site is about 10 kilometres from the Lawn Hill Gorge and Boodjamulla National Park in Queensland's Gulf Country. Since 2001, visitation has grown from approximately 4,000 to 44,000 people a year.

Mr Murray said the past two decades had transformed the treasured visitor spot.
"It's been an amazing rollercoaster, from winning international awards and filming the Dundee Superbowl ad to rebuilding after last year's devastating fire," Mr Murray said.
"But, through it all, we've welcomed tens of thousands of people to this unique and unforgettable part of the country. We know how much it's cherished by everyone who comes here, time and time again."
Mr Murray said he was looking forward to the next phase for Adels Grove and felt it was perfect the popular destination, located on Waanyi Traditional lands, was now owned by the Waanyi.
"We are very proud of the business but always wanted to return the land to the Traditional Owners," he said.
"There's enormous potential and we're excited to see how it evolves."
Adels Grove has won numerous tourism awards and is a Hall of Fame recipient in the Outback Queensland Tourism Awards.
