Faith Leaders Gather Nationally to Deepen Interfaith Understanding and Shared Values

MELBOURNE, Australia - AussieJournal -- International peace organisation HWPL successfully held the Australia Religious Peace Academy (ARPA) national forum, uniting religious leaders from Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, and Christianity under the theme "What is Religion? Why is it Necessary for Humans?" The event was held in a hybrid format, enabling participation both online and in person from across Australia.

The forum featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions, with participants seated on a shared stage alongside their scriptures and sacred symbols. This format fostered a respectful and meaningful dialogue centred on the values within each faith and their contributions to peace in society.

ARPA is part of the International Religious Peace Academy (IRPA), under the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Offices – an initiative that has hosted scripture dialogues in 128 countries since 2014. The goal is to resolve misunderstandings, break stereotypes, and build trust between religious communities.

"When leaders of different faiths come together to listen and learn, it strengthens the foundation for a peaceful society," said an HWPL official. "ARPA is a step toward ensuring mutual respect and understanding for our nation's future."

Another official added, "By understanding the essence of each other's scriptures and traditions, we open the way to lasting peace. The Academy brings together voices from across the country to learn, share, and identify the common values that unite us."

HWPL will continue to host ARPA events nationwide, creating platforms for scripture dialogue, cultural exchange, and collaborative peacebuilding, in line with its global mission to establish sustainable peace through mutual understanding and cooperation.
