Because every dog who crosses the finish line deserves to be covered.
MELBOURNE, Australia - AussieJournal -- PawHealthAI, the Australian pet health platform, today announced Knose Pet Insurance as the Official Pet Insurance Partner of National Trail Run With Your Dog Day, a new national virtual event taking place on May 2, 2026.
The event is open to every dog owner in Australia with access to a trail — coastal paths, national park tracks, riverside routes, or local trails. On May 2, participants across the country are invited to run with their dogs and share the experience through the PawHealthAI app. Entry is free, and every participant is automatically entered into a Grand Prize Drawing with prizes from event sponsors.
TWO PASSIONS. ONE DAY.
Australia is one of the world's highest pet-owning nations, with 73% of households — approximately 7.4 million — owning at least one pet. Nearly half own a dog.
On the other side of the trail, more than 3.65 million Australians participate in running — and trail running is its fastest-growing segment. Ultra-marathon completions alone have doubled in the past decade, with 10,000 Australians crossing ultra finish lines in 2023. Australia also records one of the highest rates of female trail running participation in the world, at 41% compared to a global average of 26%.
The timing is no accident. The COVID-19 pandemic drove a simultaneous boom in both trail running and dog ownership across Australia. Pet ownership jumped from 61% of households in 2019 to 73% today, adding over a million dogs to the national population. Trail running has grown 231% globally over the past decade — a trajectory that weathered pandemic disruptions and has continued to accelerate ever since.

PawHealthAI saw the opportunity. The pandemic had driven growth in both dog ownership and trail running — so why not bring them together? As Jim Schuman, Co-Founder and CEO of PawHealthAI, put it: "It's like avocado on toast. Two great things that are even better together. That's National Trail Run With Your Dog Day."
KNOSE PET INSURANCE: Official Pet Insurance Partner
Knose Pet Insurance joins National Trail Run With Your Dog Day as the Official Pet Insurance Partner, supporting the event through a sponsorship partnership that celebrates active, healthy lives for Australian dogs and the people who love them.
On the announcement, Tiaan Dreyer, CEO of Knose Pet Insurance, said: "Every great adventure needs a backup plan — and that's as true on the trail as it is in everyday life with your dog. Whether it's a twisted paw or an unexpected vet visit after a big run, Knose is here to help Australian dog owners. We're proud to support National Trail Run With Your Dog Day as the Official Pet Insurance Partner."
Event participation does not include insurance coverage. For information about Knose Pet Insurance, visit knose.com.au.
