ResortNet, a Colorado-based internet service provider and private cable operator, completed a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) installation to Box Elder Estates, a private residential community in Brighton, Colorado.
BRIGHTON, Colo. - AussieJournal -- In July 2020, Box Elder Estates HOA contracted with ResortNet to design, install, and service a private FTTH network for the Box Elder Estates community. Bandwidth began passing on the fiber to the home network late March 2021. Roughly fifteen miles of conduit and fiber was run throughout the private development, connecting 95 homes with 6-strand fiber brought to each home, future proofing the project.
Fiber-to-the-home was an initiative Co-Chairs of the HOA Internet Committee, Leo Berz and Jim Culver began researching in March 2019. "With a majority of our homeowners working from home, along with the increase in home-schooling, we were fortunate to have the support of our HOA as they understood the importance of robust bandwidth for our community," said Berz. "Also, we benefited greatly from the fact that both Jim Culver and I are in the IT industry. We knew where to start, and we understood the tasks ahead of us and the potential magnitude of the project."

"It's been a very demanding project, with many delays due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and winter weather, but, thanks to the joint efforts of our Committee, our HOA, and ResortNet, we are now able to provide much value to our community," said Culver. "Our homeowners had been experiencing a lot of frustration due to the bandwidth constraints that multiple connected devices can cause. Reliable, increased internet speed is more apparent than ever before and, along with the convenience for our homeowners, this is a wise investment for our community. Fiber-optic internet can greatly increase a home's value."
"We are pleased to see the project come together, and see that first home come online", said Bryon Wentzlaff, Vice President of Sales for ResortNet. "Box Elder Estates HOA now offers symmetrical 200 mbps internet to the residents and we are poised to upgrade if needed. 2020 taught all of us the importance of internet at home. We are excited to see this project go from a simple conversation to design to implementation. I am pleased to have ResortNet associated with a FTTH project along the Denver front range."
