New industry resource supports more consistent specification and procurement of solar lighting across Australia and New Zealand.
ADELAIDE, Australia - AussieJournal -- Green Frog Systems is proud to have contributed to the development of the new Model Solar Lighting Specification, released by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) through its Street Lighting & Smart Controls (SLSC) Program.
Developed in collaboration with industry experts, suppliers and consultants, the specification provides councils, road authorities, government agencies and infrastructure owners with a practical framework for specifying and procuring solar lighting. The document reflects the significant advances made in solar lighting technology in recent years, including improvements in battery technology, battery management systems, LED performance and connected smart controls.
Designed to complement existing Australian and New Zealand standards, the specification aims to promote greater consistency throughout the procurement process while supporting high-quality project outcomes. It has been developed as a freely available resource to assist organisations preparing specifications for both large and small public lighting projects.

Green Frog Systems contributed engineering knowledge and practical experience gained from more than a decade of solar lighting deployments across Australia and overseas.
"The release of a dedicated model solar lighting specification is an important step for the industry," said David Wilson for Green Frog Systems.
"Solar lighting has evolved significantly over the past decade, and this document provides councils, consultants and infrastructure owners with a practical framework that reflects current technology and procurement practices. We're proud to have contributed alongside IPWEA and other industry experts to a resource that will benefit the broader public lighting industry."
Green Frog Systems acknowledged the leadership of Graham Mawer, Emerging Technology Adviser at IPWEA, together with the IPWEA Street Lighting & Smart Controls Program and the many industry contributors involved in developing the specification.
