A Free Community Event At The African American Museum For The Summer Of Healing Series
DALLAS - AussieJournal -- Several Dallas-area community-based organizations are coming together on Saturday August 13th, 2022, to have important and necessary conversations to promote peace, healing, and resilience in neighborhoods highly impacted by violence and crime. The INFORM Dallas community partnership event is hosted by Beyond Visionary, a non-profit organization based in Dallas that works to advance educational equity and economic opportunity for at-risk youth, in conjunction with the African American Museum of Dallas and Heal America's Summer of Healing initiative.
"In order to leverage relevant and sustainable solutions that reduce incidents of neighborhood violence in our city, it's important that we strengthen collaboration and coordination across youth serving systems. violence and crime. These youth need a network of community supports that are comprehensive, connected, and trauma-informed to prevent, treat, and heal from past and
present trauma and adversity," says Beyond Visionary's Founder and CEO, Kelli Rogers.
Beyond Visionary helps youth transition out of foster care, the juvenile justice system, and/or homelessness into and through college. They aim to guide students into highly ranked science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs at local community colleges and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
INFORM Dallas will feature a panel discussion with some of the most prominent community leaders, influencers, and experts, a special performance by recording artist
Zacardi Cortez, followed by a networking reception. Some of the organizations that will be represented at this event are: The City of Dallas, Dallas Independent School District (DISD), Urban Specialists, Vogel Alcove, Men of Nehemiah, and Dallas County Criminal Justice Department. They will provide a wealth of information and opportunities to network with those in the city doing the work to support at risk youth.
